How to Connect TikTok Ads to Looker Studio, Step by Step
How do you connect TikTok Ads to Looker Studio?
Looker Studio has no Google-built TikTok Ads connector. That single fact shapes every option below: unlike Google Ads, which Google connects to its own reporting tool natively, TikTok Ads reaches a Looker Studio report through one of three routes -- a partner connector from the Looker Studio gallery, a free scheduled export from TikTok Ads Manager into Google Sheets, or the TikTok Business API loaded into a data warehouse that Looker Studio then reads.
Each route fits a different kind of team.
- Partner connector. The fastest path. You pick a third-party connector from Looker Studio's gallery, authorize your TikTok Ads account, and pull fields straight into a report. Most of these are paid after a trial.
- TikTok Ads Manager plus Google Sheets. Free, and it uses Google's own Sheets connector at the Looker Studio end. It also requires a human or a script in the middle, because TikTok delivers scheduled reports by email.
- TikTok Business API. Engineering work. It fits teams that already run a warehouse such as BigQuery and want TikTok rows sitting next to every other channel at the source.
Looker Studio itself carries "No charge," stated verbatim on Google's pricing page as of August 12, 2026. Looker Studio Pro is an optional add-on at $9 per user per project per month, same source and date, and it adds team workspaces plus organization-level content ownership. Neither price changes with TikTok: the cost of a TikTok connection sits entirely in whichever route you choose, and the Google Sheets route adds nothing at all.
Looker Studio publishes 1400+ connectors to data sources, of which 1300+ are community connectors built by parties other than Google. TikTok Ads lives in that community and partner tier, not in Google's own set. If you have already set up connecting Google Ads to Looker Studio, expect this to feel different from the start -- there is no official connector to search for, and the first decision is which route to take rather than which account to authorize.
What do you need before you start?
Four things, and one of them cannot be fixed later. You need a TikTok Ads Manager account with reporting access, a Google account for Looker Studio, a decision about how granular the report should be, and -- on the partner connector route -- a payment method for whichever vendor you pick.
- TikTok Ads Manager access. Only TikTok Ads Manager users with access can download reports, per TikTok's own help documentation. If the person building the dashboard is not on the ad account, add them before anything else.
- A Google account. Looker Studio signs in with a standard Google account and costs nothing at the core product tier, as of August 12, 2026. There is no separate signup.
- A reporting level. Campaign, ad group, ad, or placement. TikTok's custom reports use dimensions as rows and metrics as columns, so choosing the row level first saves rebuilding the export later.
- A payment method, if you go the connector route. Partner connectors are third-party products with their own billing.
Then check one thing that outranks all of them in importance: the ad account time zone.
TikTok's help documentation is explicit that the ad account time zone is chosen at signup and cannot be changed afterwards. It governs the time data is displayed in reports. You find it under Tools > Account setup. Every date in every chart you are about to build means whatever that setting says it means, and no amount of Looker Studio configuration overrides it. A US agency that created an account under a European time zone is going to see a daily spend curve permanently offset from the client's calendar, and the only real remedy is a new ad account.
Check it now, write it down, and put it in the dashboard title. It will save an argument later.
Method 1: connect TikTok Ads with a partner connector
A partner connector adds TikTok Ads as a Looker Studio data source through the connector gallery: pick the connector, authorize the TikTok Ads account, choose which accounts and fields to pull, then build charts on top of the resulting data source. The flow mirrors a native connector closely enough that anyone who has added a Google data source will recognize it. The difference is who owns the software.
- Open a new data source. From the Looker Studio home screen, create a report or go straight to a new data source.
- Search the gallery for TikTok Ads. Results come from the partner and community tier of Looker Studio's 1400+ connectors, of which 1300+ are community-built. You will see several vendors, not one official option.
- Authorize the TikTok Ads account. The connector sends you to TikTok to sign in and grant access, then returns you to Looker Studio.
- Choose accounts and reporting level. Pick the ad account or accounts, then the level -- campaign, ad group, ad, placement -- that matches the rows you want.
- Review the fields. Check that the metrics you plan to chart are present before you build anything on top. Field coverage varies by vendor.
- Add it to the report and set a refresh schedule. A data source without a schedule keeps showing the numbers from whenever it was last pulled.
Partner and community connectors are built by parties other than Google, and authorizing one grants that vendor read access to your TikTok ad account data on an ongoing basis. Google hosts the gallery; Google does not build, support or guarantee those connectors. For agency work, check the vendor's security and data-retention terms before you authorize a client account, and remove the authorization from TikTok when a connector is retired.
Windsor.ai is one vendor in this category, and it lists Looker Studio / Data Studio among its destinations on every plan, with TikTok Ads among its sources, as of September 6, 2026. Its Free plan runs $0 per month with 1 user, 10 data sources, 15 accounts, 5 destination tasks, daily sync and a 30-day history limit, and the page describes a 30-day trial that converts to a Forever Free plan with no credit card needed. That 30-day history cap is the one to watch: a free-tier pipeline cannot show you last quarter.
Beyond that, shortlist two or three and compare them yourself. Pricing, field coverage and account limits among partner connectors in the Looker Studio gallery move often enough that any specific claim ages badly within a quarter.
Method 2: the free route through TikTok Ads Manager and Google Sheets
The free route builds a custom report inside TikTok Ads Manager, schedules it as a recurring export, lands the resulting file in Google Sheets, and connects that sheet to Looker Studio with Google's own Sheets connector. Total software cost: zero. Total human cost: somebody moves a file, or writes a script that does.
- Build a custom report in TikTok Ads Manager. Custom reports use dimensions as rows -- campaigns, ad groups, ads, placements -- and metrics as columns, including CPM, CPC, CTR and CVR. Set the row level to match the granularity your dashboard needs.
- Set the time range. TikTok offers yesterday, the last 7 days, the last 30 days, or a custom date. A rolling window works better than a fixed date for a recurring export.
- Schedule the export. Scheduled report exports are delivered by email only, to up to 5 email addresses. There is no direct push into Sheets, Drive or a cloud bucket from this screen.
- Get the file into Google Sheets. Open the emailed export and import it into a sheet, or automate the step so the same sheet is overwritten each time.
- Connect the sheet to Looker Studio. Google Sheets is a first-party Looker Studio connector, so this half is the easy half: add the sheet as a data source, confirm the field types, and build.
- Set the Looker Studio refresh schedule so the report picks up the sheet's new rows rather than a cached copy.
First, timing: TikTok sends the scheduled email after data processing completes, which typically takes about 5 to 6 hours, so the file arrives around 5-6 AM in the ad account's time zone. A dashboard opened before that shows yesterday's yesterday. Second, and worse: a scheduled export auto-cancels if no recipient downloads a report from that schedule for 3 consecutive months. An automated pipeline that nobody clicks on will switch itself off, silently, one quarter in.
That second rule is the real tradeoff. It is why this route suits a monthly client report better than a live dashboard: genuinely free, no third-party software in the chain, but not unattended automation. If you script the email-to-Sheets hop, make sure the script's mailbox counts as a recipient that actually opens the file, and keep a calendar reminder to verify the schedule is still alive.
While you are in the export screen, settle one more thing: how TikTok traffic will be identified downstream. Campaign names in a TikTok export do not automatically line up with sessions in Google Analytics. Consistent UTM parameters on your TikTok links are what let you join the two data sources in the same Looker Studio report later.
Method 3: pull TikTok Ads data through the Business API
On the third route, your own code does the fetching. A developer app in the TikTok API for Business portal is authorized against the ad account, calls the reporting endpoints, and writes the returned rows into a data warehouse such as BigQuery. Looker Studio then reads that warehouse and never talks to TikTok at all -- it just reads a table your pipeline filled.
This is engineering work, not a setup wizard -- no gallery to browse, no authorize button that finishes the job. The shape of it:
- Register a developer app. You create an app in the TikTok API for Business portal. This is a developer account action, separate from your TikTok Ads Manager login.
- Authorize the app against the ad account. The app has to be granted access to the specific advertiser account whose data you want.
- Call the reporting endpoints. Your code requests the metrics and dimensions you need, on whatever cadence you decide, and handles the response.
- Load the rows into a warehouse. BigQuery is the common choice for a Looker Studio destination, because Looker Studio reads BigQuery through a first-party Google connector.
- Point Looker Studio at the warehouse. From Looker Studio's side this is an ordinary BigQuery data source. The TikTok-specific complexity all lives upstream.
Who this fits: teams that already run a warehouse and already have someone maintaining pipelines. Where BigQuery is already collecting Google Ads, Meta and CRM data, adding TikTok to it is incremental work rather than a new discipline. If nobody on the team writes code, the first two routes exist for a reason.
The payoff is control. You decide the schema, the history depth, the refresh cadence and the retry behavior -- and no schedule switches itself off after three quiet months.
Why your Looker Studio numbers don't match TikTok Ads Manager
Mismatches between a Looker Studio chart and the TikTok Ads Manager screen almost always trace to four things: the ad account time zone, the attribution window in force, the report's refresh schedule, and a date range or filter that differs between the two screens. Not one of them is a broken connection. Each produces numbers that look wrong while both sources are, technically, correct.
The time zone. The setting you wrote down before starting: fixed at signup, unchangeable afterwards, and governing the time data is displayed in reports. If a stakeholder reads your daily chart as their own calendar day while the rows mean midnight-to-midnight somewhere else, every total is shifted. Looker Studio cannot fix it. The offset is baked in before the rows ever leave TikTok.
The attribution window. TikTok offers click-through attribution of 1 day or 7 days, engaged view-through attribution of 1 day or 7 days, and view-through attribution of off or 1 day, adjustable when you create new ad groups. Two ad groups in the same account can therefore count conversions on different clocks. TikTok also states that the Ads Manager attribution setting controls Ads Manager conversion reporting and does not affect MMP (mobile measurement partner) reporting, and recommends keeping the two aligned.
A row you pulled yesterday is not final. With a 7-day click-through window in force, a conversion can be credited to a click from six days ago, so TikTok's own numbers for last Tuesday keep moving until the window closes. A pipeline that writes each day's rows once and never revisits them will permanently under-report conversions against Ads Manager. Re-pull a trailing window at least as long as the longest attribution setting in the account, rather than only pulling yesterday.
The refresh schedule. A Looker Studio data source shows what it last pulled. On the free Google Sheets route the lag compounds: the export email lands around 5-6 AM in the ad account's time zone, and Looker Studio then refreshes on its own separate schedule on top of that.
The date range and filters. The dull cause, and the most common. Put both screens on the same window -- yesterday, last 7 days, last 30 days, or the custom range you picked when you built the export -- before you investigate anything else.
Check all four in that order before declaring a number wrong. And if the real question is which channel earned a conversion rather than which screen reports it, that is a question about marketing attribution models, not about a connector.
When does a paid data pipeline pay for itself?
A paid pipeline earns its cost at one of three moments: TikTok Ads has to sit next to other channels in a single report, several ad accounts have to blend into one view, or somebody ends up babysitting the free export every week. Below that threshold, the TikTok Ads Manager export plus Google Sheets does the job for nothing.
| Option | Entry price | Data sources / accounts | Sync frequency | Looker Studio as destination | Free tier / trial |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free TikTok Ads Manager export to Google Sheets | $0 -- Looker Studio core product carries No charge, per Google's pricing page, as of Aug 12, 2026 (optional Looker Studio Pro: $9 per user per project per month, same date) | One scheduled export per report; row or data-volume limits not published on Looker Studio's official pages, as of Aug 12, 2026 | Scheduled exports are emailed to up to 5 recipients after data processing that typically takes about 5 to 6 hours, arriving around 5-6 AM in the ad account time zone, per TikTok's help documentation; a schedule auto-cancels if no recipient downloads a report for 3 consecutive months | Yes, via Google's own Google Sheets connector, once the emailed file reaches a sheet | Free permanently, no trial required |
| Windsor.ai | $0/month Free plan, as of Sep 6, 2026; Basic $23/month ($19/month billed annually); Standard $118/month ($99 annually); Plus $299/month ($249 annually); Professional $598/month ($499 annually); Enterprise on quote | Free: 1 user, 10 data sources, 15 accounts, 5 destination tasks, 30-day history limit. Basic: 3 data sources, 75 accounts. Standard: 7 data sources, 75 accounts, unlimited destination tasks. Plus: 10 data sources, 200 accounts. Professional: 14 data sources, 500 accounts. Enterprise: up to 200 data sources, up to 50,000 accounts. 350+ sources including TikTok Ads, as of Sep 6, 2026 | Daily on Free and Basic; daily or hourly from Standard; daily, hourly or 15-minute on Professional, as of Sep 6, 2026 | Yes -- Looker Studio / Data Studio is listed among its destinations, alongside BigQuery, Google Sheets, Snowflake, Power BI, Tableau, Redshift, PostgreSQL, MySQL, S3, Supabase and Excel | 30-day trial converting to a Forever Free plan, no credit card needed, as of Sep 6, 2026 |
| Improvado | $0/month Free Limited, as of Sep 6, 2026; MCP Only $100/month; Advanced and Enterprise carry custom pricing on the published page | Free Limited: live API requests to all sources, AI agent and MCP included, 50 MCP actions per week, 1 workspace. MCP Only: 2M rows per year, 300 MCP actions per week, 1 workspace. Advanced: 600M rows per year, up to 50 workspaces. Enterprise: 1B rows per year, unlimited workspaces. TikTok Ads is among its sources, as of Sep 6, 2026 | Daily data sync on the MCP Only plan; frequency for other plans not published, as of Sep 6, 2026 | No -- the published destination list is BigQuery, Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, Amazon Athena, Azure SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Tableau, Metabase and Redash, as of Sep 6, 2026. Reaching Looker Studio means routing through a warehouse such as BigQuery and pointing Looker Studio at that warehouse | Free Limited plan at $0/month; no separate trial published, as of Sep 6, 2026 |
Read that third column carefully, because it is the decision. Windsor.ai lists Looker Studio as a destination outright, so TikTok rows land where your report already lives. Improvado does not list Looker Studio among its destinations at all -- its published list is warehouses and BI tools. Using Improvado to feed a Looker Studio dashboard therefore means loading into BigQuery or another warehouse first and pointing Looker Studio at that, which is a perfectly workable architecture and also a different project than clicking a connector.
Every figure above comes from each vendor's own pricing or integrations page on the date shown. Where a vendor publishes no figure, the cell says "not published" rather than carrying an estimate.
The arithmetic that decides this fits on a napkin. Count the channels that must appear in one report, count the ad accounts, then add up the hours per month someone currently spends moving files around. Multiply that last number by an hourly rate and set it against $23 or $118 a month. Teams that do this honestly usually find the pipeline cheaper than the babysitting, and the resulting dashboard is the one you can actually run marketing ROI decisions off. If you want to widen the shortlist before committing, start with Windsor.ai alternatives and Improvado alternatives.
